# Liverpool: Loads of fans believe Virgil van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly partnership would be unstoppable

**Liverpool fans must be dreaming of having a world-class partner for Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, and they could have been watching the right man for the job on Wednesday night. Their 1-1 draw with Napoli gave fans a chance to take a closer look at [28-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjy-_TVoI3mAhXcTBUIHWXgDxoQFjAAegQIARAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.transfermarkt.co.uk%2Fkalidou-koulibaly%2Fprofil%2Fspieler%2F93128&usg=AOvVaw0A1JRseHjAWBP_T3kut0YA) – and they were impressed, to say the least.**

The [6 foot 3](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/90880/Show/Kalidou-Koulibaly) Senegal international has played in [11 of Napoli’s 13 games this season in Serie A](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/90880/Show/Kalidou-Koulibaly). According to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/276/Show/Italy-Napoli), he’s made the most clearances in the squad on average per game (three) and made the third-highest number of tackles per game on average (2.6). The site gave him a [7.31/10 rating](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/90880/Show/Kalidou-Koulibaly) for the game against Liverpool, and it’s no surprise he’s being linked with the likes of [Barcelona](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/il-napoli-trema-barcellona-in-missione-per-fabian-ruiz-e-su-koul-83588).

Liverpool fans took to Twitter to suggest how incredible both him and Virgil van Dijk would be as a partnership at the back, and some were begging Jurgen Klopp to go out and sign him.

You can see some of their reactions to the possibility below:

> Can’t help thinking how clean sheets would definently return with a VVD – Koulibaly partnership. He’s probably the only CB I would put on same level with Van Dijk at the moment.
