# Liverpool: Fans call for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to start against Manchester City

**Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a man in form for Liverpool right now, with [four goals in his last four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdaten/spieler/143424) for the club.**

He followed up his double against Genk in the Champions League two weeks ago with a goal against former club Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and another against the Belgian side at Anfield on Tuesday night. \[[via TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdaten/spieler/143424)\]

Despite that hot streak in front of goal, the 26-year-old has [started only two Premier League games so far this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdaten/spieler/143424), having [spent a year out of action with a serious knee injury](https://www.goal.com/en/news/oxlade-chamberlain-thankful-after-making-liverpool-return/1n0327j8ddczg14lgqjoyxicvc).

League leaders Liverpool welcome champions Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday, ahead of which, [@AnfieldWatch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1192170290958229504) on Twitter asked followers if they think Oxlade-Chamberlain should start in that game.

The midfielder has happy memories of playing against Pep Guardiola’s team at Anfield, having [scored against them in a 4-3 Premier League win](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42594403) in January 2018 and [repeated the trick in a 3-0 Champions League thrashing](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43632176) three months later.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter have called for Jurgen Klopp to include Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting line-up for Sunday’s clash:

> Yes definitely. Hes dangerous. You can guarantee that if he’s on the pitch they’ll be worrying about him.

> 100% we need an attacking team we can’t afford to let city attack us. we need attack minded players against City their team is not accustomed being attacked they panic and make mistakes

> Yes I would. Ox in the midfield will pin City’s backline back and reduce their attacking build ups.
