# Liverpool: Fans delighted over potential Ryan Kent windfall amid transfer interest in ex-Reds winger

**Plenty of Liverpool fans have been raving over a potential transfer windfall for the Reds amid speculation over the future of former Reds winger [Ryan Kent](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-transfer-rumours/glasgow-rangers-kent-bid-rejected/).**

The 23-year-old was [sold to Glasgow Rangers for £7m](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49552351) last year and has now been the subject of transfer interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds, who have had a [£10m bid for the player rejected](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53861273) by Ibrox manager and former Reds captain Steven Gerrard.

As noted by [@LFCTransferRoom](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1296590096049766400) on Twitter and reported by the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fc-sell-ryan-kent-to-rangers-transfer-deal-20-per-cent-sell-on-clause-a4227396.html), Liverpool inserted a 20% sell-on clause as part of the deal which saw Kent move north of the border a year ago, meaning that they would stand to reap more than £2m if Rangers accept a subsequent offer higher than that which they rejected from Leeds.

Kent only made one senior competitive appearance for the Merseysiders, an [FA Cup third round clash against Exeter](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457/verein/31) back in January 2016, before being sold for £7m last year following an [initial loan spell at Ibrox](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/transfers/spieler/279457).

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were gleeful at the prospective windfall from the potential sale of the in-demand winger, with one Kopite hailing “another Edwards masterclass”, with sporting director Michael Edwards gaining a [reputation for negotiating a number of prosperous transfer deals](https://www.givemesport.com/1531479-liverpools-brilliant-transfer-business-since-michael-edwards-became-a-director) for the club.
