[LiverpoolFC.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/academy/364096-paul-glatzel-new-liverpool-contract?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=TwitterWebsiteCards&utm_content=Digital&utm_campaign=LFCTwitterCards) reported that the 18-year-old had put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield as he continues his rehabilitation from a lengthy knee injury suffered in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere two months ago.

The youngster scored [21 times in 30 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-glatzel/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470604) for Liverpool’s youth and reserve teams in 2018/19 (one goal every 1.43 games), with [11 goals to his name in 15 matches in the Under-18 Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-glatzel/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470604) (one goal per 1.36 games).

He played a key role in Liverpool’s [FA Youth Cup success](https://www.thefa.com/news/2019/apr/25/fa-youth-cup-final-report-manchester-city-liverpool-250419) last season, scoring [eight times in six matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-glatzel/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470604/plus/0/saison/2018/wettbewerb/FAYC/verein/6922) (1.33 goals per game) in that cup run.

Glatzel’s commitment to the club comes just a few days after Bobby Duncan, [another member of Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup-winning side](https://www.thefa.com/news/2019/apr/25/fa-youth-cup-final-report-manchester-city-liverpool-250419), [left for Fiorentina](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49549403) in acrimonious circumstances following accusations by his agent that Liverpool initially forced him to stay at Anfield against his own will, according to [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/28/liverpool-bobby-duncan-deny-mentally-bullying-agent).

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were happy to see Glatzel staying at the club, with some taking a swipe at Duncan as well:
