# Liverpool: Fans devastated as Chelsea announce Timo Werner transfer

**[Chelsea have announced](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/06/18/timo-werner-transfer-agreed) Timo Werner will officially become a blue next month after the transfer from RB Leipzig was finally completed.**

Liverpool missed out on signing the German star to their Premier League rivals earlier this month. Despite months of speculation and Werner himself admitting he sees himself as a [‘good fit’ for Jurgen Klopp’s side,](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2877881-timo-werner-feels-he-might-be-a-good-fit-at-liverpool-amid-30m-clause-report) talks with the Reds fell through.

Now, Chelsea will be the ones to benefit from the 24-year-old, who has tallied an astonishing 26 goals in the Bundesliga this season (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdaten/spieler/170527)).

Following the announcement, which has been relayed via Liverpool fan account [@AnfieldEdition,](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1273546186776023046) Kopites are expressing their disappointment in the failed move. One supporter has likened him to a former Red and tweeted ‘Torres 2.0’, perhaps predicting Werner will help the Blues win silverware or maybe suggesting he is of similar ‘Judas’ nature – the Spaniard famously left Liverpool for Chelsea.

Another fan has commented that they are ‘worried about next season’, as they perhaps feel they missed out on a marquee signing.
