# Liverpool: Fans discuss update on Adrian’s contract situation

**Many Liverpool fans have been discussing an update involving Adrian’s future, which recently emerged on social media.**

The Athletic’s Liverpool journalist James Pearce [has recently reported that](https://theathletic.com/2241444/2020/12/05/liverpool-wolves-score/) with Adrian’s contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, he would be ‘surprised’ if the Spaniard gets handed a new deal at Anfield.

Recently, Adrian didn’t feature for the Reds in the [absence of Alisson](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1367075/Liverpool-news-Alisson-injury-Jurgen-Klopp-Champions-League) as 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher featured in the club’s games [against Ajax and Wolves](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/caoimhin-kelleher/leistungsdaten/spieler/340918).  In the absence of Adrian, Kelleher impressed in both fixtures and [picked up very good ratings](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322176/Show/Caoimhin-Kelleher) to back it up well.

Liverpool [had signed Adrian on a free transfer](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/05/liverpool-keen-to-sign-adrian-to-replace-simon-mignolet) in the summer of 2019. Since joining, he has made [23 appearances in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrian/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/71271/verein/31) for the Reds, keeping only five clean sheets and [annoying plenty of fans](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/adrian-aston-villa-error-twitter-talk/) along the way.

[Anfield Edition recently relayed Pearce’s update](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1335876657522102272) involving Adrian. It drew the attention of many Liverpool fans, who gave their opinion about the fact that the Spaniard may not extend his stay at the club beyond the summer of 2021.
