# Liverpool: Fans don’t seem to be missing Zeljko Buvac as Jurgen Klopp’s assistants also agree new deals

**Jurgen Klopp isn’t the only member of Liverpool’s coaching staff to have [signed a contract extension](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/377870-liverpool-fc-statement-jurgen-klopp-extends-contract-to-2024) today, with his assistant managers Peter Krawietz and Pepijn Lijnders also agreeing new deals at Anfield.**

The club’s official website [liverpoolfc.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/377872-peter-krawietz-pepijn-lijnders-extend-liverpool-contracts) confirmed that the pair have mirrored the Reds’ first-team boss in committing their future to Liverpool until 2024.

While Krawietz came to Anfield with Klopp back in 2015, Lijnders joined the club a year earlier, briefly departing in 2018 to [manage NEC Nijmegen](https://www.nec-nijmegen.nl/2018/01/pepijn-lijnders-nieuwe-hoofdtrainer-n-e-c/) before returning to Merseyside. \[via [liverpoolfc.com](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/377872-peter-krawietz-pepijn-lijnders-extend-liverpool-contracts)\]

Earlier this year, journalist Raphael Honigstein said that Lijnders’ growing influence at Anfield was the reason for Klopp’s former assistant Zeljko Buvac suddenly leaving the club in April 2018 (as per [Spox.com](https://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/international/england/1907/News/liverpool-klopp-buvac-deshalb-kam-es-zur-trennung.html), via [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/568445/zeljko-buvac-jurgen-klopp-liverpool/)), a year before the Reds [lifted the Champions League under Klopp](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2019/jun/01/tottenham-hotspur-v-liverpool-champions-league-final-live).

That ended a long working relationship between the pair, with Buvac [being Klopp’s assistant for the entirety of his seven-year spells at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/zeljko-buvac/profil/trainer/1302) before they [came to Liverpool together](https://www.espnfc.com/liverpool/story/2662755/jurgen-klopp-assistant-zeljko-buvac-joins-liverpool) four years ago.
