# Liverpool: Fans excited after Yves Bissouma claim

**Some Liverpool supporters are fully behind the idea of the Reds signing Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, following an update from a south coast journalist.**

Gini Wijnaldum’s exit to Paris Saint-Germain has arguably increased the need for Jurgen Klopp to bring in a new central midfielder this summer.

The Dutchman was a hugely consistent performer for Liverpool and his absence could leave a void in the middle of the park as the season drags on, even though it hasn’t yet.

Much may depend on the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain staying fit, and it was looking [increasingly likely](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/liverpool-fans-b%e2%80%a6-transfer-update/) that no new signings will be made.

According to journalist Duncan Castles on [*The Transfer Window*](https://play.acast.com/s/thetransferwindow) podcast \[via [*Anfield Watch*](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1430881234796875780?s=20) on Twitter\], however, Liverpool are still interested in Bissouma, as well as Manchester United and Arsenal, having been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/yves-bissouma-brighton-premier-league/) with him in the past.
