# Liverpool: Fans excited by expected Ozan Kabak arrival

**Many Liverpool fans reacted in delight to the news that Schalke defender Ozan Kabak is edging closer to a move to Anfield.**

According to [Sky Germany](https://twitter.com/footballdaily/status/1356258135825145858), the 20-year-old passed his medical in Gelsenkirchen in line with his Anfield move on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Kabak has been playing in a side that is looking relegation-bound in the Bundesliga, having won just one game from [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ozan-kabak/leistungsdaten/spieler/361260) starts and [rooted to the bottom](https://www.skysports.com/bundesliga-table) of the standings.

However, Jurgen Klopp has a history of improving relegated players. Both [Andy Robertson](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40666486) and [Georginio Wijnaldum](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36846756) came from the likes of Hull City and Newcastle United – both were demoted to lower tiers before their arrival and are now key assets in the German tactician’s squad.

With this in mind, supporters were excited to see Kabak in a Liverpool shirt, with one even describing him as the “Turkish Maldini”, as it appears only a matter of time before the move is complete as Schalke [move to sign his replacement](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1356256802367807489) in the form of Shkodran Mustafi.
