**Many Liverpool fans reacted in delight after it was reported that their club have an interest in signing Lille star Renato Sanches.**

The Kop faithful may remember Sanches from his short loan stint at Swansea City during the 2017/18 campaign – where he only made [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/258027) appearances before making a rather swift return to Bayern Munich.

The Portuguese midfielder has [played a big part](https://portugoal.net/portuguese-abroad/1832-europa-league-fonte-praises-huge-sanches-as-lille-thrash-milan-fonseca-mourinho-victorious) in Lille’s success this season, scoring once from seven starts in Ligue 1, averaging 5.4 long balls game and having a pass success rate of 89.6% ([Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299450/History/Renato-Sanches)).

With this in mind, these supporters were excited at the prospect of Sanches coming to Anfield. With the future of Georginio Wijnaldum still [up in the air](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gini-wijnaldum-liverpool-contract-news-19593952) – these fans would welcome the Portuguese star’s arrival if a deal can be done.

### Fans excited by possible Sanches transfer

**“He definitely possesses the skillset needed to thrive in midfield. How people are blatantly against this signing is beyond me. I imagine they said the same about Robertson, Salah and co.”**

**“Gini replacement I’m assuming. Haven’t watched him at Lille but if we want him, it’s because Klopp believes he can make it work for him.”**
