The tweet included the caption “[£25m](https://twitter.com/anfieldwatch/status/1199397784954327041?s=21)“, which was the fee that Liverpool paid to Newcastle for Wijnaldum in 2016 (as per [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36846756)).

The 29-year-old has scored [15 goals in 158 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/49499) for the Reds, including [two against Barcelona](https://www.si.com/soccer/2019/05/07/liverpool-barcelona-champions-league-video-highlights-messi-suarez-mane) in the 4-0 Champions League semi-final win at Anfield last season.

He has [started all 13 of their Premier League games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) so far this term and has the highest passing success rate (91.3%) of any player to start for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the division in the current campaign, as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool).

Wijnaldum has won acclaim from several pundits in recent weeks, with Danny Mills telling [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/fabulous-exclusive-danny-mills-drools-over-unsung-hero-who-cost-liverpool-quite-a-lot/) that he is a “fabulous midfield player”.

Stephen Warnock added on [BBC Radio 5 Live](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50160828?fbclid=IwAR2KyHFyIDtQxeuhRyPZMHbYwqTAEDq0Dqx3tp0s0qMI0jodnvBn7hdzQbo): “If you let him go forward the way I would like him to, he will cause the opposition lots of problems.”
