# Liverpool: Fans fume at Christoph Baumgartner rumour

**A number of Liverpool supporters are unhappy after the Reds were linked with a move for Hoffenheim midfielder Christoph Baumgartner.**

Gini Wijnaldum will swap the Reds for Paris Saint-Germain this summer, bringing an end to a wonderful five-year spell at Anfield.

The Dutchman has been a hugely influential performer for Liverpool, playing a major role in their success under Jurgen Klopp, winning both the Champions League and Premier League.

Wijnaldum’s exit means a new midfielder may need to join the Reds in the next few months, ensuring Klopp still has great depth in the middle of the park.

Florian Neuhaus has been continually [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/liverpool-fans-love-latest-florian-neuhaus-update/) with a move to Merseyside and now Baumgartner has been tipped to head there, too, according to [*Kicker*](https://www.kicker.de/baggert-liverpool-an-baumgartner-807677/artikel).

The 21-year-old is currently playing at Euro 2020 with Austria and made 31 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim last season, [scoring six goals and registering three assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/369979/Show/Christoph-Baumgartner).
