# Liverpool: Fans fume at Ozan Kabak update

**A number of Liverpool supporters have been left frustrated with an update on the future of on-loan Reds defender Ozan Kabak.**

The 21-year-old [moved](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12206006/ozan-kabak-transfer-liverpool-sign-schalke-centre-back-on-six-month-loan-with-option-to-buy) to Anfield in the January transfer window, looking to fill the centre-back void left by [long-term injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/31) to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

It was an extremely difficult situation for Kabak to be thrown into, but after a [difficult start](https://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/top-four-to-come-for-leicester/189201), he has begun to look the part for Liverpool, [excelling against RB Leipzig](https://www.goal.com/en-ie/news/an-incredible-game-klopp-praises-centre-backs-phillips-and-kabak-/16laleplgmo8s1x28xcrnp9a4b) in the Champions League. The Turkey international has made [nine Premier League appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/356743/Show/Ozan-Kabak) to date, although an [injury](https://turkish-football.com/liverpool-defender-ozan-kabak-misses-man-united-clash-with-injury/) is currently keeping him sidelined.

Kabak only joined the Reds on loan, however, so it may be that he ends up returning to Schalke 04 at the end of the season, should Jurgen Klopp decide not to retain his services. According to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/) \[via [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1393684691031674880?s=20)\], the club are yet to make a decision over the defender’s future, with Klopp mulling over his options.
