# Liverpool: Fans fume at Roberto Firmino after James Pearce remarks

**Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has received widespread criticism in recent weeks and Tuesday was no exception.**

The 29-year-old found himself as the topic of conversation for The Athletic journalist James Pearce, who [believes](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1363828833145782274) that the Reds must go and buy an out-and-out number nine next summer and give Firmino a rest.

Despite Firmino’s recent slump in form, he still has [six](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96182/Show/Roberto-Firmino) goals and [five](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96182/Show/Roberto-Firmino) assists to his name from [25](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96182/Show/Roberto-Firmino) appearances, but it is [significantly less](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108226/Show/Mohamed-Salah) than what teammate Mohamed Salah has accumulated.

The Brazil international, who earns [£180k-per-week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/liverpool-fc/payroll/) at Anfield, has only managed to achieve a match rating of over seven once in the past five games and is without a goal in his last six outings ([Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/96182/MatchStatistics/Roberto-Firmino)).

With this in mind, supporters flocked to discuss Pearce’s words, with some even bizarrely insisting that Firmino should be sold all together.
