# Liverpool: Fans fume over new contract update regarding Georginio Wijnaldum

**Many [Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/) fans have been heavily critical towards the club over the lack of progress with Georginio [Wijnaldum](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/georginio-wijnaldum/) and a possible new contract.**

The 30-year-old’s future at Anfield has looked [uncertain](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/report-georginio-wijnaldum-inter-milan-transfer-demands) all season with his contract due to [expire](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/profil/spieler/49499) at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

According to the Liverpool Echo (via [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1341789467326222344)), a new contract for the Dutchman does not appear to be on the horizon but he is no less important to manager Jurgen Klopp – having made [21](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) appearances in all competition.

Inter Milan have recently been [linked](https://m.fcinternews.it/in-primo-piano/i-fcin-i-wijnaldum-marotta-e-ausilio-gia-attivi-per-il-colpo-a-zero-contatti-con-gli-agenti-ricco-quadriennale-in-ballo-356583?fbclid=IwAR3TgzbilfqJ-GoDnwvuz3Liy-DATJLnRuWPefZUWW2eVBdBYCpvisEjW3U) with a move for Wijnaldum, who will be entitled to take the [£36m-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) star on a free transfer if a new deal cannot be agreed.

Unsurprisingly, supporters were not happy with the club delaying the proceedings, with some suggesting that he deserves a new contract on Merseyside after what he has achieved with Liverpool.
