# Liverpool: Fans gleeful over prospect of being champions at Old Trafford on 1st May 2021

**The fixtures for the 2020/21 Premier League were [announced this morning](https://www.premierleague.com/news/1754980) and one match in particular has sparked huge excitement among many Liverpool supporters.**

The reigning champions are due to visit [Old Trafford](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manunited-fans-slam-david-moyes-defends-record-old-trafford/) to take on Manchester United on [1 May 2021](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/405421-liverpool-premier-league-fixtures-revealed) on matchday 34, with that clash already having the appearance of a potentially title-defining one.

Jurgen Klopp’s side won last season’s league title with [seven games to spare](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51884262) and were given a [guard of honour by Manchester City’s players](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biVJOjN7ImE) at the Etihad Stadium in their first fixture at champions – a prospect of which some Reds fans are dreaming of happening at the other top-flight venue in that city in little over eight months’ time.

If Liverpool were to clinch a second successive Premier League title away to Manchester United next May, it would bring them level with the Old Trafford club on 20 league triumphs, the [most of anyone in English football history](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/erfolge/wettbewerb/GB1).

However, the Merseysiders’ record away to United is not encouraging, having won on just [one of their last 14 visits in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/bilanzdetail/verein/31/plus/0?gegner_id=985&saison_id=&wettbewerb_id=&day=&heim_gast=gast&punkte=&datum_von=-&datum_bis=-) and needing a [late Adam Lallana equaliser](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50030956) to maintain their unbeaten start in the Premier League last term.

Nonetheless, the prospect of league glory at Old Trafford in May has these Kopites salivating about that “dream” scenario:

> Can’t wait for the Old Trafford guard of honor on May 1.
