# Liverpool: Fans go wild as Declan Rice linked with Anfield move

**Liverpool fans were very excited to discover that their club has** **been eyeing a move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.**

This is according to [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/22/football-transfer-rumours-martin-odegaard-arsenal-real-madrid-gabriel-veron-manchester-united), who believe that the Hammers will be slashing their asking price for the 22-year-old, who has been [linked](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/why-chelsea-released-rice-but-now-want-him-back-at-the/1m82hb0lyggwz1l3ls24k942d4) with a move away from the London Stadium for some time.

The past few years have been solid for Rice, rising through the [ranks](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39912028) at West Ham, becoming a mainstay in the first-team and making his [debut](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47578575) for England – all in the space of two years.

Rice has only scored [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/357662) goals from his versatile defensive midfield role, but can also play as centre back. But he has already made [130](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/357662) appearances for the East London club, which is valuable experience at such a young age.

With the future of Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum still very uncertain ([via Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/georginio-wijnaldum-liverpool-contract-future-23330238)), supporters gushed at the opportunity of signing Rice, making their feelings clear to [@AnfieldEdition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1352617254823849988) on Twitter as the Reds seemingly eye up replacements for the Dutchman.
