# Liverpool: Fans gush at update on reported target Eder Militao

**Many Liverpool fans reacted in delight after news emerged regarding Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.**

The Reds were [previously linked](https://www.todofichajes.com/militao-esta-en-la-agenda-del-liverpool/) with a January move for the 22-year-old just before Christmas, but given he’s in contract until [2025](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eder-militao/profil/spieler/401530) a permanent deal would have been pricey.

However, according to transfer expert Duncan Castles, via his [Transfer Window Podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-transfer-window/id1254836234), the Reds’ interest in the Brazilian could have just received a big boost, as Militao will be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on loan this month.

The young central defender has been a bit-part player in Zinedine Zidane’s side during the 2020/21 campaign, starting just one game and making an appearance as a substitute in another ([Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/337879/Show/Eder-Milit%C3%A3o)), so one would think a loan move is a win-win for all parties.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is a big fan of his, having recently described him as [“a player with great potential.”](https://www.football-espana.net/2019/04/19/real-madrid-did-not-sign-eder-militao-by-accident-alisson-becker)

As a result, supporters were overcome with excitement over the possibility of bringing the Brazilian defender to Anfield, as [@AnfieldEdition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1349356473332207617) shared the news that he is available for loan.
