# Liverpool: Fans desperate for Milner to stay after contract update

**Liverpool midfielder James Milner is set to enter discussions with the club over a new deal at Anfield, as reported by the Atheltic via the [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/10/james-milner-opens-contract-talks-liverpool-new-deal-10715872/).**

According to the report, the 33-year-old will be out of contract at the end of this season as things stand and is free to speak to other clubs from January with a view to signing a pre-agreement.

[They](https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/10/james-milner-opens-contract-talks-liverpool-new-deal-10715872/) claimed that Milner feels he has plenty still to offer at Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp considers him a hugely valuable member of the squad.

[Liverpool fan John O’Sullivan](https://twitter.com/Corballyred) took to Twitter (via @Corballyred) to express his indifference over Milner’s contract discussions, feeling that there are other players at the club who can fill his place.
