Ghanaian media outlet [NsemWoha.com](https://www.nsemwoha.com/i-wont-use-my-money-to-buy-ferrari-i-will-help-my-people-sadio-mane-speaks/) reported quotes from the 27-year-old Liverpool forward \[[via Empire of the Kop](https://www.empireofthekop.com/2019/10/14/sadio-manes-latest-quotes-prove-hes-one-of-footballs-nicest-men/)\] in which he said: “Why would I want 10 Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world?

“I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I win thanks to football, I can help my people.”

Mane, who earns £150,000 a week according to [This Is Anfield](https://www.thisisanfield.com/liverpool-fc-player-contracts-and-wages/), has previously made several philanthropic contributions around Liverpool and to communities in Africa.

According to [Empire of the Kop](https://www.empireofthekop.com/2019/10/14/sadio-manes-latest-quotes-prove-hes-one-of-footballs-nicest-men/), he has donated old Liverpool shirts to children in countries such as Malawi and has funded numerous projects, including schools and houses, in the Senegalese village where he grew up.

[Empire of the Kop](https://www.empireofthekop.com/2019/10/14/sadio-manes-latest-quotes-prove-hes-one-of-footballs-nicest-men/) added that he has helped with cleaning his local mosque in Liverpool and claimed that he makes other charitable and voluntary contributions which haven’t been publicised.

Today I can help my people – build schools, stadiums and buy clothes & food. I prefer my people receive some of what life has given me” – Sadio. [pic.twitter.com/y2WnEVZV7V](https://t.co/y2WnEVZV7V)
