# Liverpool: Fans praise Takumi Minamino’s attitude after he admits regret over goalless start to Anfield career

**Liverpool winger [Takumi Minamino](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/liverpool-fans-agree-with-jurgen-klopps-comments-on-takumi-minamino/) has been praised by numerous Reds fans for comments he made reflecting on his first half-season with the club.**

The Japan international [arrived from Red Bull Salzburg](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/12/12/liverpool-buy-salzburgs-japanese-attackertakumi-minamino-cut/) in January and has made [14 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165793/verein/31) for the Reds so far, earning a [Premier League winner’s medal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/erfolge/spieler/165793) in the process, but has [yet to score or set up a goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165793/verein/31) for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

In an interview with Japanese media outlet Super Soccer \[via [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-takumi-minamino-manchester-united-18805213)\], the 25-year-old said: “We could win the league and I am so happy I could experience that. But I wanted to have goals or assists. I pay a lot of attention to them, so it’s regrettable that I couldn’t achieve it.” Those quotes were later shared by [@AnfieldWatch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1296722484545425408) on Twitter.

While Minamino has yet to get off the mark for Liverpool, he has so far had limited opportunities to break his duck, [starting just two league games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165793/verein/31) and being restricted to [494 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165793/verein/31) of game-time since his mid-season move.

The Japanese winger has previously earned [plaudits from some Reds supporters](https://live4liverpool.com/2020/03/view-from-the-kop/liverpool-fans-praise-takumi-minamino-after-his-comments-on-start-to-life-at-anfield/) after [admitting in March](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/389419-takumi-minamino-bournemouth-preview-premier-league) that he didn’t want to use moving to a new country as an excuse for failing to find the net. He also came in for [praise from some fans](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/07/16/improving-every-game-some-liverpool-fans-wowed-by-their-excellent-25-year-old-star-despite-defeat/) for his performances towards the end of the Merseysiders’ league-winning campaign.
