# Liverpool: Fans prefer Joel Matip to Kalidou Koulibaly

**During last night’s Champions League clash between Napoli and Liverpool, Reds supporter [@Kloppholic](https://twitter.com/Kloppholic) on Twitter got people talking with an assessment of some players at those clubs.**

[@Kloppholic](https://twitter.com/Kloppholic/status/1174048174371217409) put out a tweet saying that a combination of Alisson in goals, Virgil van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly at centre-back and Fabinho in defensive midfield “[genuinely wouldn’t concede a goal](https://twitter.com/Kloppholic/status/1174048174371217409)“.

Fabinho impressed at the base of Liverpool’s midfield, winning six tackles and completing 62 of his 65 passes for a 95.4% success rate. \[[via WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426944/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Napoli-Liverpool)\]

Van Dijk’s [misplaced pass led to Napoli’s second goal in stoppage time](https://www.skysports.com/football/napoli-vs-liverpool/420346) but prior to that he had made eight clearances and won three aerial duels, as per [WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426944/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Napoli-Liverpool).

Napoli defender Koulibaly [won two tackles, made two interceptions and recorded five clearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426944/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Napoli-Liverpool) in his team’s [2-0 victory](https://www.skysports.com/football/napoli-vs-liverpool/420346) last night, with former Liverpool defender Phil Babb telling [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/napoli-vs-liverpool/420346)‘ *The Debate* that his performance was “[a masterclass](https://www.skysports.com/football/napoli-vs-liverpool/420346)“.

Despite the [28-year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalidou-koulibaly/profil/spieler/93128)‘s excellent display for the Serie A side, these Liverpool fans on Twitter feel that Reds centre-back Joel Matip is an even better defender:
