# Liverpool: Fans question Klopp’s decision to play Oxlade-Chamberlain out wide in Southampton win

**Several Liverpool fans were left asking questions following Jurgen Klopp’s decision to play Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out on the left in the 4-0 win over Southampton.**

Although he is capable of operating on the flanks, Oxlade-Chamberlain has mainly played in the middle this season (as shown on [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/84146/Show/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain)). However, this time around, Klopp opted for the former when deploying the 26-year-old. And in the end, it was a decision that paid off.

It was Oxlade-Chamberlain who managed to open the scoring for his side, [coming in from that left-hand side](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op3qaloCKcE&feature=onebox) before firing past Alex McCarthy. Overall, it was a strong performance from the England international, who earned a match rating of [8.0](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376133/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Liverpool-Southampton) on WhoScored.
