# Liverpool: Fans question Sadio Mane after shock Atalanta defeat

**Plenty of Liverpool fans criticised forward Sadio Mane after his side’s 2-0 defeat against Atalanta in the Champions League last night.**

The 28-year-old started in a front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi as the Reds failed to register a single shot on target at Anfield for the first time under manager Jurgen Klopp in the Champions League (via [Squawka](https://twitter.com/Squawka/status/1331722779977281537)).

Mane was singled out as one of the players that underperformed on the night, having missed the chance to help the Reds advance to the Last 16 of the competition.

Per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/liverpool-atalanta/UsLdb), Mane lost possession 19 times, had zero shots on target and failed to win any aerial duels, encapsulating how poor the Reds were on the night.

With this in mind, these supporters were disappointed in Mane’s performance, taking into account his lack of attacking prowess and his inability to unlock the Atalanta defence.

### Fans not impressed with Mane

> We didn’t need to win the match and we played like it. 0 attempts on target at home. Sadie Mane was shocking. Whole team were way off the pace. They must be saving themselves for Brighton at the weekend. No effort, no intensity, no urgency. [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> While Jurgen took a risk, he’ll probably be disappointed how poor we were.. especially some of his senior players (Mane particularly awful) don’t think Atalanta were that good and think he knew that, but too many players didn’t perform, weakened or not… [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> If proof of the issues caused by the injury crisis was needed, this was it.\
> Manè, having played so much football lately, was utterly abject; and the two Williams boys, who don’t look ready for the Championship never mind the Champions League, are forced to see out 90 mins[#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
