# Liverpool: Fans rage at Joel Matip after latest injury vs West Brom

**Liverpool fans were left fuming after Joel Matip suffered another injury during his side’s [1-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/55461324) draw against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.**

The Reds remained at the summit of the Premier League but lost valuable ground, coming unstuck against the stubborn Baggies’ side of Sam Allardyce.

Matip has added himself to Liverpool’s lengthy list of absentees, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez ruled out for a significant amount of time after picking up [serious knees injuries](https://talksport.com/football/787753/joe-gomez-knee-injury-liverpool-jurgen-klopp-virgil-van-dijk/).

This causes a further defensive dilemma for the Anfield club, with the Cameroonian centre back having to leave the field with a [groin problem](https://www.goal.com/en/news/klopp-defensive-dilemma-liverpool-update-matip-injury/qlj21ai6xu8b13esplg0zh4n1) – a new setback compared to the ankle, knee, hamstring and thigh problems he’s suffered throughout his Merseyside stay (via [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-matip/verletzungen/spieler/82105)).

However, this new issue could be significant – with our sources suggesting that he may have suffered a [significant tear](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/exclusive-joel-matip-could-miss-the-rest-of-the-season-due-to-serious-groin-injury/) which could require him sitting out the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.

Because of this, supporters had run out of patience and demanded that the injury-prone defender is offloaded when the transfer window opens in a few days.
