# Liverpool: Fans react to Joe Gomez update

**A number of Liverpool supporters have been reacting positively to Jurgen Klopp’s injury update on Joe Gomez.**

This season has been a [disastrous one in the injury department](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156) for the Reds, with the Premier League champions having to make do without a host of key men.

While Virgil van Dijk’s long-term absence has clearly been the biggest blow to Liverpool’s campaign, Gomez has also been a huge loss.

The 23-year-old has been out since November, having suffered a serious [knee injury](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/11/liverpool-blow-as-joe-gomez-suffers-injury-in-england-training-session) while on international duty with England. It has put paid to the centre-back’s hopes of playing at Euro 2020 in what is the latest cruel setback in an [injury-plagued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/verletzungen/spieler/256178) career to date.

Speaking on Saturday, however, Klopp gave some positive news regarding Gomez, confirming [via James Pearce on Twitter](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1383383174022000643?s=20) that the defender is now running outside for the first time again.

> Klopp on Gomez: "Joe is outside running now. A big step. All looks fine. No reaction in his knee. He's in a good way but it takes time."
