# Liverpool: Fans react to John McGinn transfer link

**Liverpool are interested in Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, but are unlikely to pay their £50 million asking price \[[The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2525834/2021/06/22/klopp-impressed-mcginn-liverpool-prepare-life-wijnaldum/)\].**

As they look ahead to life without Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum, Jurgen Klopp has reportedly been ‘impressed’ with the Scotland star as a possible replacement \[[The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2525834/2021/06/22/klopp-impressed-mcginn-liverpool-prepare-life-wijnaldum/)\].

Despite Klopp’s admiration for the ex-Hibernian man, the Midlands side are said to have placed a £50 million price tag on McGinn’s shoulders, as they look to warn off potential suitors for his signature \[[Edinburgh Live](https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/sport/football/aston-villa-set-john-mcginn-20880486)\].

In light of these developments, loads of Liverpool diehards took to Twitter to show their frustration towards the potential acquisition, with pre-season drawing ever closer for the Merseyside giants.
