**Fans of Liverpool have been reacting to a post on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1371849181653049345), which relayed a report that claims the Reds are interested in the signing of Sander Berge this summer.**

According to a report by [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/liverpool-transfer-news-sheffield-united-s-sander-berge-a-top-summer-target-transfer-notebook_sto8179343/story.shtml), Liverpool are considering a summer move for the Sheffield United midfielder, who is “almost certain” to leave the Blades upon their impending relegation to the Championship at the end of the season.

It is also said that Aston Villa have been keeping tabs on the [£33,000 per week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/sheffield-united-fc/payroll/) defensive midfielder, who has scored [one goal](https://www.sofascore.com/player/sander-berge/793167) and registered [one assist](https://www.sofascore.com/player/sander-berge/793167) over his 13 Premier League appearances for Sheffield United this season, as well as averaging a [SofaScore match rating of 6.75](https://www.sofascore.com/player/sander-berge/793167) – ranking him as the club’s [eighth-best performer](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/sheffield-united/15) in the top flight.

However, after [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1371849181653049345) relayed the report on Twitter, fans of Liverpool flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing distraught at the prospect of their club making a move for the player of a side who are currently [bottom of the Premier League table](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/premier-league/table).

**“Why are we looking at players like this? Can we not see we need more quality than a player that’s getting relegated, we need to build a quality 20 man squad. From being so far in front of everyone over the last 3 years we are going backwards in the market.”**

[@ColinScunner](https://twitter.com/ColinScunner/status/1371912536350674946)

**“What’s the point of him? Isn’t he a CDM? We need a goal-scoring CAM.”**

[@TheKopEnd\_19](https://twitter.com/TheKopEnd_19/status/1371852026812973062)

**“Please no. Every time I see him play he doesn’t seem fit for the Premier League. Too slow on the ball.”**
