# Liverpool: Fans rejoice over Sadio Mane’s intention of staying forever

**Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has [expressed](https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/27/sadio-mane-says-wants-stay-liverpool-forever-10991252/) his intentions on staying at Anfield for the rest of his career.**

The Senegal international is currently in his fourth season at the club following his [£34m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36642523) move from Southampton in 2016.

Despite being heavily [linked](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2019/zinedine-zidane-called-sadio-mane-earlier-this-summer/) with Real Madrid after a string of impressive performances, Mane told [TV2](https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/27/sadio-mane-says-wants-stay-liverpool-forever-10991252/) (via [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/27/sadio-mane-says-wants-stay-liverpool-forever-10991252/)) that he is keen to see out his career on Merseyside.

“I’ve been at a few clubs in the world but Liverpool is unique. I think here is a little bit like family. The mood is always incredible.

“But that is normal, we have been together for four years and know each other well. We are also together outside games and training, and that is important for morale. I always enjoy being here. Forever… hopefully.”

Barcelona star Lionel Messi [believes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesnalton/2019/10/10/sadio-mane-senegal-vs-brazil-neymar-messi-fifpro/) that Mane was the standout player in 2019 as the Argentine voted for the Liverpool winger at FIFA’s “The Best” awards. He has scored [68 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/200512) and provided [26 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/200512) in 137 appearances for the Reds since his move from the south coast.

Supporters were delighted with the comments that he made and made their feelings clear on social media.
