# Liverpool: Fans show their appreciation for Fabinho

**The spectre of defeat in the Champions League final was still hanging over Liverpool when the club [signed Fabinho in May 2018](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44284792), just [two days after losing to Real Madrid in Kiev](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44258022).**

The Brazil midfielder made [41 appearances in his first season at Anfield](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225693) and has [started three of the Reds’ first four Premier League games this term](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115916/MatchStatistics/Fabinho).

Liverpool fan [@Kloppholic](https://twitter.com/Kloppholic/status/1168908504444354562) on Twitter described the £39m purchase from Monaco \[[via BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44284792)\] as one of Jurgen Klopp’s best signings at the club.

Having started only [21 Premier League matches last season](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115916/History/Fabinho), Fabinho wasn’t a constant presence in the team in this first year at Anfield.

However, he has earned plenty of praise for his recent performances, with Gerard Brand of [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/11792817/liverpool-3-1-arsenal-player-ratings-mohamed-salah-shines-but-david-luiz-struggles) noting how he has provided “[a powerful, cool hand at the base of midfield](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/11792817/liverpool-3-1-arsenal-player-ratings-mohamed-salah-shines-but-david-luiz-struggles)” and Ross Chandley of [The Redmen TV](https://theredmentv.com/liverpool-v-norwich-player-ratings/) saying that he “[might not be full of flair but his role shouldn’t go underestimated](https://theredmentv.com/liverpool-v-norwich-player-ratings/)“.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to lavish praise on Fabinho for his performances with the Reds:
