# Liverpool: Fans slam Jurgen Klopp’s Club World Cup squad decision

**Lots of Liverpool fans are questioning a decision from Jurgen Klopp, as he added some of the youngsters who took on Aston Villa to his Club World Cup squad.**

After the win against Monterrey, the Reds’ first-team will be joined by Sepp van den Berg, Ki-Jana Hoever and Caoimhin Kelleher, per [The Liverpool Echo’s Paul Gorst](https://twitter.com/ptgorst/status/1207227929115144192), who all took part in the 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

Harvey Elliott, who was clearly the [standout player](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/liverpool-fans-stunned-by-harvey-elliotts-carabao-cup-display-vs-aston-villa/) at Villa Park, has also been cleared to join the senior squad after some initial injury fears, per the club’s [official site](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/378920-harvey-elliott-fifa-club-world-cup-injury?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=TwitterWebsiteCards&utm_content=Digital&utm_campaign=LFCTwitterCards).

Plenty of Reds fans have been left baffled by Klopp’s decision though, especially considering van den Berg was one of the few players who was [heavily criticised](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/liverpool-fans-slam-sepp-van-den-bergs-carabao-cup-performance-vs-aston-villa/) on Tuesday, while Kelleher was also unimpressive, conceding five goals from just [seven shots on target](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/50441628).

One would have to assume the manager’s choice is something to do with the lack of options he has at centre-back – Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip are both currently injured – but Kelleher’s inclusion is bizarre as it means there are now four Reds shot-stoppers in Qatar.

Check out some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

> Not sure why Caoimhin is going as we already have 3 keepers out there. Shame that the best prospect is left at home…strange decision…
