# Liverpool: Fans slam Rio Ferdinand after accusing Jurgen Klopp of “taking a liberty”

**Loads of Liverpool fans have slammed former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand after making comments about Jurgen Klopp’s FA Cup stance.**

The German tactician explained following his side’s [2-2](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51208528) draw against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday that he would [not be taking charge](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/self-defeating-fa-forced-jurgen-17636485) of the Reds’ fourth-round replay. [According](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51256760) to the Reds chief, this was due to the winter break that the Premier League had organised at the end of last season, which Klopp was asked to respect. Indeed, as a result, U23s boss Neil Critchley will be the boss once again for the evening and the youth team will be played at Anfield.

If Klopp follows his word, it will be a repeat of Liverpool’s [5-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50723225) defeat to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup, where the Merseysiders were playing in Qatar the day after and played the reserve team as a result. Ferdinand had an issue with this and told BT Sport (cited by the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fa-cup-jurgen-klopp-17641430)) that he was “taking a liberty” by choosing not to manage the side, but totally understood his stance on shuffling the pack. Supporters were not impressed with his comments and made their frustrations clear on social media.
