# Liverpool: Fans slate Barcelona as details of Philippe Coutinho’s Bayern move are publicised

**Former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho completed a season-long loan move from Barcelona to Bayern Munich yesterday, with [Bayern’s official website reporting that the Bundesliga club have the option to buy him permanently next summer](https://fcbayern.com/en/news/2019/08/press-release-contract-signed-coutinho-completes-move-to-fc-bayern).**

According to a tweet from Liverpool-focused ESPN reporter Melissa Reddy yesterday, Bayern maintained that the two clubs agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transfer, only for Barcelona to [publicise the figures involved on their official website](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/football/first-team/news/1313389/agreement-with-bayern-munich-for-philippe-coutinho-loan). \[[via @MelissaReddy\_](https://twitter.com/MelissaReddy_/status/1163367027790307328)\]

> Bayern Munich’s statement on the Coutinho deal: “The parties have agreed not to divulge the financial details of the agreement”
>
> Barcelona’s: “Bayern Munich will pay 8.5m euros and the player’s wages. The agreement also sees an option to buy for Bayern fixed at 120m euros”

Coutinho spent [five years at Liverpool](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/transfers/spieler/80444) before signing for Barcelona in January 2018 in a deal worth £142m, according to [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42580173).

The 27-year-old scored just [11 goals in 54 appearances for the La Liga side last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/80444) and, as reported by [AS](https://en.as.com/en/2019/05/12/football/1557683292_696992.html), he was heckled by Barcelona supporters on multiple occasions for his perceived poor performances.

Coutinho had made noises about wanting to leave Liverpool prior to his departure from Anfield, as reported by [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool-bayern-munich-barcelona-philippe-coutinho-transfer-news-van-dijk-a9070776.html), and consequently “[lost a lot of support](https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/03/philippe-coutinho-isnt-keen-joining-man-utd-chelsea-barcelona-prepare-sell-9780694/)” from Reds fans, according to [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/03/philippe-coutinho-isnt-keen-joining-man-utd-chelsea-barcelona-prepare-sell-9780694/).

These Liverpool fans on Twitter had a go at Barcelona following confirmation of Coutinho’s move to Bayern:

> Barca are classless and no way bayern will buy him after the loan expires.. they will go get sane when he’s recovered from his injury. Coutinho is a temporary fix
