# Liverpool: Fans stick up for Mohamed Salah after recent criticism

**Liverpool fans have been [sticking up](https://twitter.com/CalebARadford/status/1191834805077499910) for the Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah after receiving criticism from a section of the fanbase despite a positive display against Genk on Wednesday.**

The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes despite a huge challenge facing him against Manchester City on Sunday.

Salah got an [assist](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108226/MatchStatistics/Mohamed-Salah) during the match as he set up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score his fourth goal of the season,  he had [five attempts](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108226/MatchStatistics/Mohamed-Salah) on goal and completed [four](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108226/MatchStatistics/Mohamed-Salah) key passes, but some fans still feel he is being disrespected by their own…

> Salah misses a pass: What happened to him?
>
> Salah misses a shot: He’s a shell of what he used to be.
>
> Salah scores: Just not as consistent as he used to be.

This is despite everything that the Egypt international has achieved at the club. He [won](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43860354) the PFA Player of the Year award in his first season and has won the Premier League Golden Boot for [two seasons](https://www.goal.com/en/news/mohamed-salah-wins-premier-league-golden-boot/1belmy91ix9yp1fcly7c57sm1z) in a row after his move from Roma in 2018.

Fans leapt to the defence of Salah despite recent [criticism](https://www.footballfancast.com/premier-league/liverpool/liverpool-fans-criticism-of-mohamed-salahs-recent-displays-is-truly-bizarre) and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan believes that he is still delivering goal contributions out of form and that it is something that other players have been “guilty” of not doing for many years.

Here are some of the best comments from Liverpool fans:

> the new cool thing on lfc twitter is to hate on him. It’s constant. I thought he played well today. Am i crazy?

> He’s still delivering goal contributions out of form, something a lot of our forward players have been guilty of not doing over the years. But there have been so many groans and moans today. Christ.

> He did well today, i wish everyone watch how many players are surrounding Him when he gets the ball and how much space this creates… additionally, he had cpl of brilliance moments (2nd goal as an example).

> He’s still easily my favourite player and our best attacker, he gets double man marked in games leaving Firmino and Mane in constant 1 v 1s is all
