# Liverpool: Fans think Jurgen Klopp’s comments on Kylian Mbappe are ‘mind games’

**Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports linking Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe with a move to Anfield.**

Spanish media outlet [El Desmarque](https://eldesmarque.com/madrid/real-madrid/noticias/175140-ultima-hora-mbappe-y-lo-cambia-todo-florentino-perez-tiene-un-problema-ed) reported ([via Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1201282/Liverpool-transfer-news-Kylian-Mbappe-Mohamed-Salah-Real-Madrid-PSG-Jurgen-Klopp-Zidane)) this week that the Reds were prepared to spend what would be a [world record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/transferrekorde) €250m (£215m) to bring the 20-year-old to Merseyside. According to [El Desmarque](https://eldesmarque.com/madrid/real-madrid/noticias/175140-ultima-hora-mbappe-y-lo-cambia-todo-florentino-perez-tiene-un-problema-ed), Liverpool would be willing to sell Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid if a deal for Mbappe were to be completed.

In 2017, [L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/) claimed that Klopp spent “several hours” trying to persuade the striker, who was then with Monaco, to join Liverpool. \[[via Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1195707/Kylian-Mbappe-2020-Liverpool-transfer-Jurgen-Klopp-PSG-Nike-New-Balance)\]

However, the Reds manager has now poured cold water on the possibility of the club signing the PSG youngster, with [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/nov/08/liverpool-cannot-afford-psg-kylian-mbappe-jurgen-klopp) quoting him as saying there is “absolutely no chance” of such a transfer occurring.

Paul Joyce, [Northern Football Correspondent for The Times](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce), shared further quotes from Klopp about the France striker on Twitter ([via @\_pauljoyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1192932388806021120?s=21)).
