# Liverpool: Fans think that club’s purchase of Brendan Rodgers’ house means Jurgen Klopp will stay long-term

**Liverpool have purchased the Formby house owned by former manager Brendan Rodgers for £3.75m and will rent it free of charge to [his successor](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/mitarbeiterhistorie/verein/31) Jurgen Klopp. \[[via Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7690841/AHEAD-GAME-Liverpool-buy-Rodgers-house-3-75m-allow-Klopp-live-rent-free.html)\]**

As noted by the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7690841/AHEAD-GAME-Liverpool-buy-Rodgers-house-3-75m-allow-Klopp-live-rent-free.html) and tweeted by [@AnfieldWatch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1195473324178071559), the German has been renting the property from Rodgers since [taking over at Anfield in 2015](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/34469429), with the current Leicester manager putting it up for sale during the summer.

The [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7690841/AHEAD-GAME-Liverpool-buy-Rodgers-house-3-75m-allow-Klopp-live-rent-free.html) added that Liverpool intend to keep the property as a residence for future managers and will allow Klopp to live rent-free in the accommodation, although he will be required to pay tax on its rental value.

Four years on from his departure as the Reds’ manager, and the £15m pay-off which ensued (as per [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7690841/AHEAD-GAME-Liverpool-buy-Rodgers-house-3-75m-allow-Klopp-live-rent-free.html)), this represents the latest transfer of funds from Liverpool to Rodgers.

Klopp is currently contracted to the Anfield club [until 2022](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jurgen-klopp/profil/trainer/118), at which stage the German is planning to take a year-long sabbatical from football, as reported by [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/26/jurgen-klopp-year-break-when-leaves-liverpool).

These Liverpool fans reacted with excitement to the news of the club’s property investment, interpreting it as a sign that Klopp could stay at the club beyond the expiry of his current deal:
