# Liverpool: Fans want to see Ben White come to Anfield this summer

**Liverpool are monitoring the situation of defender [Ben White](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/liverpool-fans-respond-to-ben-white-transfer-links/) closely as a potential replacement for Dejan Lovren.**

The Reds cashed in on their long-term Croatian servant last month after agreeing a £10.9million deal with Zenit St Petersburg (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53556646)). Now the Premier League champions are looking to bring in a new fourth choice centre-back and are eyeing up the 22-year-old, [according to Paul Gorst.](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-news-thiago-mandi-18712074?dfj)

White spent last season on loan with newly promoted Leeds and played a big part in their Championship success. He has now returned to his parent club on the south coast and has attracted a lot of attention. The centre-half played every single minute of league football for Leeds in their promotion campaign and managed to score one goal and assist two as well as keeping an impressive 22 clean sheets (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-white/leistungsdaten/spieler/335721)).

Liverpool fans are eager to sign a new defensive option and agree that White fits the bill. One supporter has said they would be ‘absolutely delighted’ if the Reds brought the 22-year-old to Anfield. Another has tweeted that White ‘can challenge \[Joe\] Gomez’ for a spot in the first team beside Virgil van Dijk.

Indeed, the Brighton man averaged 2.5 interceptions and 1.6 tackles per game for Leeds compared to Gomez’s respective 1.4 and 0.8 (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison)).
