# Liverpool: Fans urge club to address James Milner’s contract situation

**Liverpool fans have been [pleading](https://twitter.com/ptgorst/status/1203264546191872000?s=12) with the club to extend James Milner’s current contract and keep him around for at least one more season.**

The former England international’s contract is set to [expire](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-milner/profil/spieler/3333) at the end of the summer, with manager Jurgen Klopp calling for calm by saying that the club are “[not nervous](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/sep/27/klopp-milner-liverpool-contract-matip-alisson)” about the situation.

Milner, who joined the club on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015, has become an integral and influential part of Klopp’s team since his arrival and has been applauded for his [professionalism](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/i-love-james-milner-a-resilient-professional-who-knows-how-much-milk-costs-c9tcr0s0v) in the game.

> James Milner is a few weeks away from being able to speak to other clubs about a free transfer.
>
> Considering he was [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) captain for the Merseyside derby this week, it’s an odd situation.
>
> Clearly still important. He says he wants to stay. Needs sorting.[https://t.co/OgU5NIcDrV](https://t.co/OgU5NIcDrV)

Klopp [described](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11819665/jurgen-klopp-praises-liverpool-role-model-james-milner) Milner as a “role model” after helping the Reds advance to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

Supporters were adamant with their beliefs that Milner must stay at Anfield and made their feelings clear on social media.

Here you will find some of the best comments from Liverpool fans:

> Fantastic professional, would be madness to let him go He’s good for another 2 seasons at least [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
