# Liverpool: Fans urge Reds to sign Ozan Kabak permanently

**Some Liverpool fans have been calling for the Reds to sign Ozan Kabak on a permanent deal following an impressive spell on loan at Anfield.**

Jurgen Klopp has had a torrid time of things at centre-back this season, with [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/31) in that area playing a major part in his team’s struggles during 2020/21. Virgil van Dijk has been [out since October](https://www.goal.com/en/news/van-dijk-injury-how-long-will-liverpool-defender-be-out/vcnj2rj0ryef1phjrh2al2rlj) and Joe Gomez [isn’t too far behind](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/415749-joe-gomez-injury-update), while Joel Matip is [also sidelined](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55897341) for the remainder of the campaign.

These issues meant that Klopp was forced into signing a new centre-back in the January transfer window, with Kabak [arriving](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/01/liverpool-sign-ozan-kabak-and-ben-davies) from Schalke 04 and Ben Davies [also coming in](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/424460-liverpool-seal-signing-of-ben-davies-on-long-term-deal) from Preston.

The Turkish defender only joined on loan, but there was an option to buy him for £18m this summer, which journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano) claims is still the case \[via [Anfield Watch on Twitter](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1385847112223576064?s=20)\].
