# Liverpool: Fans want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to start against Manchester United

**Some Liverpool fans want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be handed a place in the starting 11 for their fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”251392″\]

The 26-year-old has made just two starts in the Premier League so far this season, as well as making three appearances from the bench (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

Oxlade-Chamberlain endured a torrid 2018/19 campaign in which he managed to play just 19 minutes in total due to injuries (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424/plus/0?saison=2018&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

Prior to that he had been a regular for Jurgen Klopp, featuring in 42 matches in the 2017/18 season before sustaining cruciate ligament damage (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424/plus/0?saison=2017&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

He has struggled to force his way into the Reds line-up since returning from injury, with Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho more often than not the starting trio in midfield (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/reldata/GB1%262019/plus/1)).

All three of those have done well, but one criticism often thrown at them is their [lack of goals and creativity](https://talksport.com/football/504282/liverpool-souness-slates-goals-murder/). Indeed, between them in the 18/19 season they managed to score just six goals (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/plus/0?reldata=%262018)).

It is perhaps because of this that several Liverpool supporters want Oxlade-Chamberlain to play from the start at Old Trafford. After all, he did claim eight assists and five goals in the 17/18 campaign (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424/plus/0?saison=2017&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

Here is what some Reds fans have been saying…

> Can he start the Sunday game please, he relieves so much pressure from the front three by being a goal threat too coming from the middle.
