# Liverpool: Fans want Sadio Mane to win African Player of the Year

**Liverpool fans want to [see](https://twitter.com/lfc/status/1202193810614304768?s=12) Sadio Mane pick up the award for the African Player of the Year after being included in a 10-man shortlist for the 2019 award.**

CAF, the governing body for Africa, [released](https://www.goal.com/en-bh/news/salah-mane-and-aubameyang-on-10-man-shortlist-for-african-player-/yzggpj52hcmd1xt6kt9l39mzh) the prestigious list which included teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Egyptian has won for the past [two](https://www.goal.com/en-bh/news/salah-mane-and-aubameyang-on-10-man-shortlist-for-african-player-/yzggpj52hcmd1xt6kt9l39mzh) years and is targeting a third consecutive African Player of the Year trophy.

However, after a stunning year for the Senegal international, Mane has thrown his hat in the ring to pick up the award for the first time in his career and finished [4th](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sadio-mane-snubbed-ballon-dor-21024176) in the illusive Ballon d’Or listing.
