# Liverpool: Plenty of fans wish Danny Ings well after impressive season so far

**Ex-Liverpool forward Danny Ings is tearing up the Premier League at the moment, with him now being joint-second in the[league’s top-scorer rankings](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goals). He’s netted [13 in 21 league games, 15 in all competitions,](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/91762/Show/Danny-Ings)and is looking like the player Liverpool may have thought they’d bought for [£7.5million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/profil/spieler/134294) in 2015.**

A [number of injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/verletzungen/spieler/134294) cut his chances of playing in Jurgen Klopp’s side short and last season’s loan spell to the Saints wasn’t convincing either with him scoring just [seven in 24 appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/91762/History/Danny-Ings) in the Premier League. However, now he’s fired his boyhood charges from the drop zone all the way [up to 12th](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiV7uyTsOXmAhUPHMAKHfK0AxwQFjABegQIAxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.premierleague.com%2Ftables&usg=AOvVaw1c9sXfNwpZEyY6u03M-R9I), things are finally looking up.

There’s been lots of goodwill from the Liverpool fans on Twitter too. One fan tweeted he’s “glad” to see the Englishman being successful and wished him “all the best for his career”.

Quite a few fans echoed that statement in the replies and they expressed how much they regret he wasn’t able to become the impact sub for them that Divock Origi has become since.

> Glad to see Danny Ings 2nd tied top goalscorer in the league with 13 goals in 21 games, while keeping Southampton away from relegation. Would’ve suited Klopp’s system if it wasn’t for long term injuries.

> Ings is great and he deserves all the luck in the world. Class act, just the wrong fit for LFC perhaps.

> Agreed. Had he stayed fit before the injuries it could have been Origi that was sold instead. Pleased to see him doing well, he deserves it.
