Journalist James Pearce loved one moment involving Caoimhin Kelleher after Liverpool's dramatic Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea on Sunday.

The Lowdown: Kelleher the hero at Wembley

The Reds overcame Thomas Tuchel's side in a memorable final at Wembley, winning 11-10 on penalties following an exciting 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

Kelleher started in goal in place of Alisson, not only making some crucial saves but also scoring his penalty before Kepa Arrizabalaga skied his must-score effort.

It sealed a first League Cup triumph since 2012 for Liverpool, with the Irishman more than justifying his selection.

The Latest: Pearce lauds post-match moment

Taking to Twitter after the match, Pearce pointed out a great moment involving Jordan Henderson and Kelleher, with the Liverpool captain urging the goalkeeper to celebrate with the trophy.

The journalist gushed: "What a day. Loved this moment after. Henderson gave the trophy to Kelleher and encouraged him to lift it in front of the photographers as the captain stood applauding the young keeper."

The Verdict: Well-deserved

Kelleher fully deserved his moment in the limelight after the match, given how the 23-year-old had made four saves during a tightly-contested game and held his nerve at a make-or-break juncture in the penalty shoot-out.

It also speaks volumes for Henderson's character that he wanted to see his young team-mate having his moment in the sun given what he had contributed, with this being the Reds captain's latest selfless gesture.

It really does feel as though something special is brewing at Liverpool this season, with an unprecedented quadruple not out of the question currently. The Reds seem to be gathering momentum all the time across four different competitions and this great Liverpool side is worthy of winning more trophies - here's hoping this is the first of many in 2022.
