Fabrizio Romano has dropped a fresh update concerning Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo and his recovery from injury.

The Lowdown: Arthur's injury nightmare

Liverpool signed the Brazilian back in September on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona.

Unfortunately for the player and the Reds, he picked up a muscle injury just a few weeks into his time at Anfield, which led to him having surgery and being on the sidelines ever since.

With domestic football set to resume in a couple of weeks, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the midfielder's recovery.

The Latest: Romano's Arthur update

In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say about Arthur and the latest step in his recovery from injury.

"Positive news for Arthur Melo. Brazilian midfielder will try to be back within the end of the month after first, positive medical check. New tests have been already scheduled in the next days/weeks but Arthur is pushing to return earlier than expected."

In a following post, Romano added:

"More on Arthur: he’d return in training at the end of December but to see him on the pitch and in good condition it could take one more month, likely end of January. Liverpool staff wants no mistakes with Arthur’s recovery and wants him 100% fit before playing again."

The Verdict: Good news for Liverpool

With the end of what will have undoubtedly been a very dark tunnel for Arthur in terms of his injury woes in sight, seeing him back on the training field will surely be a big positive for Jurgen Klopp and the club.

In terms of what the 26-year-old could offer Klopp's side when he eventually gets back to full fitness, he managed to end his previous season with Juventus in Serie A with the fourth-highest passing accuracy percentage (89.4%) at the club.

So, in addition to giving Klopp an extra midfield option, Arthur could be someone that is comfortable in possession and capable of moving the ball up the pitch.

Overall, this update from Romano is definitely a positive one, but there undeniably will still be some caution from the medical and coaching staff about the midfielder's recovery, especially after what happened to Luis Diaz over the weekend.
