Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas had his say on Liverpool’s Premier League tie against arch-rivals Everton at Goodison Park.
The Reds thought they had won the Merseyside derby late on after Thiago Alcantara’s no-look pass sent through Sadio Mane, who found Jordan Henderson in the box to score.
Astonishingly though, the play was brought back by VAR as the Senegalese winger was judged to have been in an offside position.
Replays showed that it was the finest of margins, with Mane appearing to be bang in line with the Toffees’ defence. However, Michael Oliver and his officials did not give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team and Jurgen Klopp’s side was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Was Jordan Henderson offside?
This moment incensed the Kop faithful, but they were already aggrieved by an incident in the first half involving England international goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who hacked down Virgil van Dijk in a reckless fashion.
The criticism for the referees kept coming, this time from Fabregas, who had his say on the incident on Twitter.
How’s that offside? Game’s gone mad.

Only Michael Oliver and his men in black will leave Goodison Park knowing exactly why they felt it was right to rule out Henderson’s strike, and it’s difficult to disagree with what Fabregas is saying.
The game is moving in a direction full of rulers and measuring tapes that is slowly sucking the emotion out of the sport. First the handball rule, and now this.
One can only hope that this is addressed by the FA and the International Football Association Board (IFAB), who are responsible for enforcing the rules in the game, putting an end to these sort of decisions for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.
