Liverpool: Divock Origi expected to leave this summer

Liverpool: Divock Origi expected to leave this summer -Liverpool News

Liverpool forward Divock Origi is expected to leave the club this summer and will not extend his contract, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Origi a bit-part player

The Belgian has enjoyed a unique Reds career, rarely being a regular starter but scoring some truly iconic goals against the likes of Everton, Barcelona and Tottenham.

Origi has struggled for playing time this season, however, appearing for just 75 minutes in the Premier League and finding himself well down the attacking pecking order.

The 26-year-old’s current Liverpool deal expires at the end of the season and his exit now feels inevitable.

Who did these Liverpool players join from? First up, David James arrived at Anfield from which club in 1992?

The Latest: Romano makes definitive claim

That’s certainly the opinion of Romano, who took to Twitter to claim that Origi will definitely not extend his stay, with AC Milan eyeing up a move for him:

“AC Milan have already made a proposal to sign Divock Origi on a free transfer. He’s not extending the contract with Liverpool, current deal expires in June and AC Milan are pushing to complete the agreement. Club confident – working on the deal as reported yesterday.”

The Verdict: Time to move on

Liverpool fans will always have a special place in their heart for Origi, considering the cult hero he has become, playing his part in a glorious period of success under Jurgen Klopp.

It makes perfect sense for the Belgium international to find a fresh challenge this summer, though, especially with Luis Diaz’s arrival now arguably making him the sixth-best attacking option at the club.

Minutes will continue to be hard to come by and he is at an age where he should be leading the line elsewhere, writing the next chapter in his intriguing career.
