Diogo Jota opened up his Liverpool account after a cameo appearance against Arsenal on Monday night.
Although the Reds were put on the back foot following an Alexandre Lacazette opener, they made easy work of making their comeback and coming away with three points.
Newest signing Jota rounded off the scoring with an 88th minute strike to cement another win for Liverpool.
Should Diogo Jota be a first team starter for Liverpool?
After the match, Jurgen Klopp discussed the Portugal international’s performance and admitted that he had been eyeing up a move for his services for some time.
“Diogo Jota was on my list for the last 2-3 years,” he said (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom). “But [for a transfer to happen] it needs to be a right moment. I’m really happy that he’s here now.”
The 23-year-old arrives as a highly anticipated signing following an impressive stint with Wolves. Jota bagged 44 goals for the Midlands side and currently has a career total of 72 goals and 38 assists (via Transfermarkt).
Fans are loving Klopp’s comments on their new boy and have taken to Twitter to echo his sentiments. One supporter has said they were ‘proven right’ after tipping Jota to be the perfect Klopp player. Another fan has boldly predicted a ‘quadruple incoming’ after being impressed by their new signing so far.
