Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has personally congratulated Adebayo Akinfenwa on his side’s promotion into the Championship.
Wycombe Wanderers will play in the second flight of English football next season for the first time in the club’s history. An emphatic 2-1 win over Oxford United sealed the deal in this campaign’s League One play-off final (via BBC Sport).
Who should start at right-back for the rest of the season?
Long-time Liverpool fan Akinfenwa mentioned Klopp during his post-match interview and as a result, the German personally got in touch to congratulate him and the team.
Wycombe were favourites to be relegated this season after they finished in the bottom six last term. Now, the Chairboys have made history and will enjoy Championship football for the first time.
Loads of Liverpool fans are loving the clip of Akinfenwa receiving his message from Klopp and a lot are even urging the club to sign him. A couple of supporters have said – likely in jest – to ‘get the contract ready’ and ‘make it happen’.
