Liverpool Women have welcomed goalkeeper Rachael Laws back to the club after two years with Reading.
The Merseyside outfit have made their first summer signing as they prepare for a season in the Championship. The Reds were relegated after a disappointing campaign ended with a points-per-game system, with them the victims of the Women’s Super League relegation zone.
Laws won the WSL title during her previous spell with Liverpool back in 2013 whilst on loan from former club Sunderland. She’s since enjoyed time with the Royals but has told the club she is looking for ‘a new challenge’ (via liverpoolfc.com). The 29-year-old will be a welcome signing for Reds fans after the club announced that both senior ‘keepers Fran Kitching and Anke Preuss would be leaving the club.
Loads of Reds have flocked to the club’s announcement to celebrate the good news. One fan commented to say that it is “great news” that Laws has signed, whilst another “knew this would happen” after they reportedly spotted manager Vicky Jepson liking one of the 29-year-old’s tweets.
