Liverpool fans have been handed a boost ahead of the Merseyside derby after it was confirmed it would be played at Goodison Park, according to Paul Joyce.
Decisions have been up in the air surrounding England’s return to football, and the clash between Everton and Liverpool was an ongoing debate with suggestions it could be played at a neutral venue. Mayor Joe Anderson recently admitted he thought the derby should be hosted at the Blues’ ground, despite calling for the Premier League to be ended prior to that (via Liverpool ECHO).
Will Liverpool win the Premier League against Everton?
The top flight of football is set to return on June 17, with the Merseyside rivals kicking off on the 21st. If Arsenal manage to beat Manchester City at the Etihad, Liverpool could mathematically win their first ever Premier League title with a victory over the Toffees.
Reds fans have flocked to Joyce’s tweet to share their excitement over the venue update. One Liverpool supporter has commented the ‘title is heading to Anfield’, as they seem to be certain Jurgen Klopp’s side will clinch the league on rival soil. Indeed, it could be argued that it will be a psychological boost for the Reds, who will be desperate to win the title at Goodison and give the club major bragging rights in the city.
